UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS LIBRARY CELEBRATES MILESTONE

The world’s largest public university library recently celebrated an important milestone, adding its 10 millionth volume.  The UI Library now holds more than 22 million items (including books, journals, pamphlets, microfilm, audio tapes, videos, etc.), UI librarians field more than 250,000 questions a year, and the Library’s online catalogue (available at www.library.uiuc.edu/ ) receives more than 50 million hits annually.

 

RECORD UI ENROLMENT

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign welcomed its largest freshman class ever this fall, more than 7,500 students.  Enrollment on the Urbana campus now tops 39,000 – and the total enrollment on all three campuses (Urbana, Chicago and Springfield) is close to 71,000.

 

FIND FELLOW UI GRADUATES THROUGH THE ONLINE DIRECTORY

More than 250,000 University of Illinois alumni currently reside in 120 different countries all over the world! Reconnect with your former classmates by consulting the UI Alumni Association’s Online Directory, available at www.uiaa.org. The directory is searchable by a number of different fields, including state, city, country, academic degree and class year, and also includes an “Update Your Info” page where you can update your own alumni record.  All UI graduates are eligible to register for the directory’s basic search level.  Becoming a member of the UI Alumni Association also gives you access to a special “Search for Assistance” level that includes more than 40,000 alumni volunteers who have offered to provide help with various aspects of career networking.  To join the Alumni Association online, simply go to www.uiaa.org and click on “Become a Member.”
